SP-2006

Laboratory ECG

Recorded clearly

Limb-lead ECG for laboratory animals, with real-time monitoring of up to 8 animals.

Softron SP-2006 ECG acquisition and analysis system

SP-2006 records and analyzes electrocardiographic signals from laboratory animals, including rats, mice, dogs, monkeys, pigs, rabbits, cattle, and horses. Limb-lead electrodes feed the system, which displays ECG waveforms and runs automated analysis.

Limb-lead electrodesRats, mice, and rabbits are typically anesthetized. Dogs, monkeys, and pigs can be monitored while conscious, in a suspension bed or restraint chair.
Up to 8 animalsUSB connection for simultaneous acquisition, with real-time monitoring of up to 8 animals.
Leads I and IIThree-lead or six-lead ECG can be derived from Leads I and II.
QTc and STBazett, Frederica, Van der Water, Matsunaga, and Oguchi QTc methods, plus four ST-segment calculations.

How it is used

SP-2006 is used in fundamental medicine, life sciences, and pharmaceutical development, for experimental studies and for regulatory submissions. The same hardware covers the supported species; the corresponding parameters and analysis methods are selected in the software.

  • Limb-lead electrodes collect the ECG
  • Rats, mice, and rabbits typically require anesthesia
  • Dogs, monkeys, and pigs can be monitored conscious, using a suspension bed or restraint chair
  • USB connection to a computer, with real-time monitoring of up to 8 animals at once

Waveform acquisition

Review of ECG waveforms during and after acquisition.

The system is built to keep waveforms clear, including in mice, where the signal is easily disturbed. Electromyogram filtering and power-line noise filtering are available during acquisition.

  • Real-time analysis of Leads I and II, with review while data are still being collected
  • Events such as drug administration or stimulation can be marked for later playback
  • Automatic detection of P-wave onset and end, Q-wave onset, R-wave reference, S-wave onset, T-wave peak, and the ST junction

Analysis and reports

Stored recordings can be played back and analyzed again, with the analysis period and parameters set for the study. Leads I and II can be expanded to a three-lead set (I, II, III) or a six-lead set (I, II, III, aVL, aVR, aVF).

Calculated values

  • Heart rate
  • Wave amplitudes: P, P′, Q, R, S, R′, S′, ST, T, T′
  • Durations: P, QRS, RR, PR, QT
  • QTc by the Bazett, Frederica, Van der Water, Matsunaga, and Oguchi formulas
  • ST segment by QQ-line, ST-J, S ST-index, or R ST-index

Storage, export, and printing

  • Waveforms can be stored, edited, and printed
  • GLP traceability with an MD5 digital fingerprint
  • Reports with 1, 3, or 6 leads, and export to Excel
