DSCF-08 measures physiological signals in rats and mice with an implanted telemetry device. Animals stay awake and can move freely, so the recording is not made under anesthesia or in a restraint.
How it is used
DSCF-08 is for pharmacology, toxicology, physiology, and neuroscience work in rats and mice. Because the animal is awake and unrestrained, the recording does not carry the effects of anesthesia or confinement.
Signals and recording
One receiver can follow 1–8 animals. Implants collect ECG, blood pressure, body temperature, EMG, and EEG, depending on the model. Filtering is included so the stored signal stays stable.
- Continuous collection for 1–3 months, with battery capacity chosen for the animal and the protocol
- Magnetic switch for on and off, for low power use between sessions
- Software for live display, storage, analysis, and export. Weeks of data can be processed in minutes
Applications
- Cardiovascular research: hypertension, arrhythmias
- Neuroscience: epilepsy models, stress and anxiety, sleep analysis
- Metabolism and endocrine research: diabetes models, obesity
- Behavioral research: circadian rhythms, pain models
- Pharmacology and toxicology: drug safety evaluation, toxicological responses
- Immunology: inflammatory responses, autoimmune diseases

ECG analysis
Heartbeat
- Automatic analysis of P, Q, R, S, and T waves, including wave height and durations (P, QRS, RR, PR, QT)
- Export to Excel
Arrhythmia
- Premature atrial contractions, premature ventricular contractions, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation
- Frequency and duration of abnormal beats, with Lorenz plots of the distribution
Heart rate variability
- Frequency domain: Fourier transform of low-frequency and high-frequency power, for sympathetic and parasympathetic balance
- Time domain: SDNN, SDANN, RMSSD, SDSD, and pNN50
QT interval variability
- Bootstrap resampling of the relationship between the QT interval and the RR interval
Ventricular late potentials
- Used in studies of arrhythmia risk, ventricular tachycardia, myocardial infarction, and cardiomyopathy
